Puppet Combo Games on Xbox

by James

Puppet Combo is no slouch in the indie horror community. They relish in macabre, gore-soaked 80’s slashers of all kinds. So great is the Puppt Combo library that a few have made their way to Xbox.

But not all those games are available on Xbox, in fact, only a few are. If you’re looking to sample some Puppet Combo games on console, here’s what they have.

Nun Massacre

My personal favorite Puppet Combo game, Nun Massacre has finally made its way to Xbox.

You take control of a mother sent to retrieve their child perhaps the most outwardly evil-looking boarding school ever constructed. Upon arriving you find the school abandoned, your child missing, and a murderous Nun stalking the halls.

You must sneak around the labyrinthine building while solving puzzles and hiding from the Nun as you go. It’s incredibly tense and atmospheric in a way few other Puppet Como games are.

Murder House

Red text on a black background reads "Murder House". A man in pink bunny outfit holds a sickle above his head

Murder House is a classic Puppet Combo game through and through. A news crew breaks into the house of a “deceased” serial killer, infamous in the 80’s for his sickle-wielding-bunny-suit-wearing murders, only to find out he’s still alive, and waiting for them.

The gameplay is 3rd person survival horror. Think Clock Tower. Darting around a big house, hiding from a killer you cannot fight against, and collecting items and tools to escape. It’s scary, it’s bloody, it’s awesome.

Stay Out of The House

A mechete weilding kliller attacks the player

Stay out of The House is perhaps Puppet Combo’s biggest and boldest game yet. The plot is very simple; you get kidnapped and must escape a mansion on an isolated farm. As with most Puppet Combo games, the premise is straightforward and brutal.

However Stay Out of the House has a depth to it that isn’t found in most Puppet Combo games, perhaps aside from Nun Massacre. It flirts with immersive sim elements, as you sneak around the house, avoiding killers and utilizing the environment to aid in your escape. Of all the Puppet Combo games to make their way to Xbox, this is a great one.

BloodWash

Two screaming faces look out of a washingmachine door. A zombie-like hand is putting a coin in the machine. Red text above reads "Blood Wash"

While not directly developed by Puppet Combo, Blood Wash was published under their label, Torture Star Video. I included it on this list because the overall offering of Puppet Combo games on Xbox is pretty slim, and Blood Wash captures their vibe effortlessly.

Developed by Black Eyed Priest, Blood Wash sees Sara, a young and pregnant college student take a late-night trip to the laundry mat, only to be pursued by the infamous serial killer, the Womb Ripper. From the summer alone, I’m sure you can see how it fits the Puppet Combo vibe.

That’s all the current Puppet Combo games on Xbox. With such a huge catalog of horror games, I’d love to see more brought to the platform soon. I’ll be sure to update this list when that happens.
