How to Beat Mr. Delfalco in Dead Signal

Dead Signal's new, terrifying killer

by James

Mr Delfalco is the only new killer to deal with in Reflect Studio’s excellent new game, Dead Signal. If you haven’t read our full review of the home invasion thriller, check it out here.

Mr. Delfalco is an enigmatic killer and the most lethal of the bunch. So who is he?

The suite of antagonists returning in Dead Signal all make appearances in Welcome To The Game–Adam, Lucas, and Noir. Some notable killers such as The Dollmaker and The Breather are missing, but in their place, we have Mr. Delfalco.

He wears a leather jacket, white button-up shirt, dark sunglasses, and a striking wide-brimmed hat. Little is known about Mr. Deflaco other than he’s sent in to clean up messy situations.

As of the time of writing, it’s unclear if he’s sent to murder you by Adam, as up until this point you’ve been thwarted by the efforts of both Noir and Lucas, or if Mr. Delfalco was off doing other murdery-business when he spotted you spotting him on the camera feed and now needs to clean up the evidence.

Either way, let’s talk about how to deal with him.

1. Spot him first

Mr. Delfalco will mostly show up after 12:00 a.m. on Normal Mode. You don’t have to worry about him on casual. I often encounter him around 12:20 a.m., but I’ve heard reports of him appearing as early as 11:15 p.m., but I don’t think there is an exact science. The good news is, you’re not in danger until you spot him, whenever that is, and he’s impossible to miss. If you DO happen to miss him somehow,  your boss will send you a message on your PC about him as well.

As soon as you spot him on the feed, he becomes an active threat like Noir or Lucas. Be prepared to deal with him.

2. Know his behavior

This is where Mr. Delfalco separates himself from the other killers. He can effectively function as both Noir and Lucas in one, thankfully, if you’re quick on your feet you can avoid an instant kill and evade him.

First, Mr. Delfalco will whistle to signal his approach. He will only do this when he’s approaching your apartment. If you’re seated at your desk this will be your only warning that he’s nearby, so crank that volume and listen carefully.  When this happens you don’t have much time to act.

Lastly, and perhaps most terrifyingly, Mr. Defalco has the ability to ambush you in the hallways of your apartment. This will come into play while you deliver packages or head to the roof to fix your antenna.  He’ll ambush you from down the hall, always leaving from the C apartment on whichever floor you’re on. This is the one opposite the elevator at the end of the hall.

It seems like he will always show up in this way on your first trip outside the apartment after spotting him on the cameras. But thankfully, there are ways to evade him.

3. How to evade him

So when Mr. Delfaco is on the loose and your life is on the line, here’s what you do.

If you’re seated at your desk and hear his whistling, get up immediately. Kill the lights on your desk, by the front door, along the wall outside the bedroom, and in the bedroom itself. Turn on your flashlight just long enough to pick your way to the bed and hide under it. You must do this very fast.

Soon you’ll hear Mr. Delfalco pacing around your apartment, searching around for you. He’ll likely even walk into the bedroom. After he leaves, give it a few seconds until you’re sure you can’t hear whistling or walking, then get up and go re-lock your door.

Ok but how about in the hallways? This is where things get scarier, but perhaps easier to deal with. Like I said above, Mr. Delfalco should only attack you out of the C apartment on each floor. So when you’re walking down the hall to deliver a package, pay very close attention to if that door begins to open.

If you see that happen, turn around as fast as you can and run to the elevator. Before this happens, make sure you’re walking so as to conserve your very limited stamina bar. If you’re fast, you’ll hit the elevator and Mr. Delfalco will stop to watch as the doors close.

If he disrupted your way to deliver a package, don’t worry. You can head back to that floor and finish up. Just make sure from this point on in the game you’re keenly aware of the apartment at the end of the hallway on whichever floor you’re on. He might be in there.

Stay focused and don’t panic

There is a logic to Mr. Delfalco just as there is with Noir and Lucas. Know his behavior and learn how to evade him and you’ll be fine. The most important thing with him as well as the other killers is quick response time.

As soon as you hear his whistle, kill the lights and hide. If you’re heading out of the elevator and you see the door to apartment C open up, turn and run.

With this knowledge at your disposal, you might just survive until 5 a.m. Good luck.
